OCT 11 | ENT | 7 PM Ivalas String Quartet: Hurry to secure your seats! This young and innovative string quartet was hailed by The Strad Magazine for playing with “tremendous heart and beauty”. Ivalas are based at Juilliard School and “are dedicated to the celebration of BIPOC voices”. They won the first prize at the 2019 WDAV Young Chamber Musicians Competition in Davidson, NC, as well as the grand prize at the 2022 Coltman Chamber Music Competition in Austin, TX.
JAN 10 | ENT | 7 PM Songs of Youth: EPIC Wind Quintet comprised of principal players from America's major Symphonies is joined by a bass clarinetist. Hear the iconic “Mladi” by Janacek for wind quintet and bass clarinet among other major woodwind works.
FEB 21 | ENT | 7 PM Romantic Beethoven: Do not miss Cellist Sophie Shao, winner of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant and top prizes at the Rostropovich and Tchaikovsky competitions, is a versatile and passionate artist whose performances the New York Times has described as “eloquent, powerful,” the LA Times noted as “impressive” and the Washington Post called “deeply satisfying.” She will take your breath away with her rendition of the Beethoven Clarinet Trio and other Romantic works. She is joined by Ieva Jokubaviciute piano, Sergei Vassiliev, clarinet.
MAR 28 | ENT | 7 PM Bernstein Loved Clarinet: Bernstein’s first published work was his clarinet sonata. Explore the story behind the piece and hear the journey of Bernstein from student to mature composer. The musicians are Sergei Vassiliev, whose clarinet playing has been described as "flawless" by the Colorado Springs Gazette; and pianist Andrew Staupe, who was hailed as an "immaculate artist" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
MAY 23 | ENT | 7 PM Quartet for the End of Time: Premiered on January 15, 1941, prisoner-of-war camp, in Görlitz, Germany, where the composer had been confined, this is the seminal chamber music work by Oliver Messiaen. You have to be there to experience this emotionally penetrating masterpiece! Among the star-studded cast of musicians for this concert is Gabby Diaz on violin. She just became the newest member of the multiple Grammy Award-winning Kronos String Quartet. The other familiar virtuosos for the night are Sophie Shao on cello, Ieva Jokubaviciute on piano, and Sergei Vassiliev on clarinet.
